Year 3

Year 3 had an amazing time with members of the RAF who came to teach us about aerodynamics as part of our STEM teaching and learning. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths taught in an inter-diciplinary way). We learnt about the effect that thrust, drag, lift and weight have on a plane design and then had go at making our own gliders from balsa wood and card. After an initial test flight (with human muscles providing the thrust), the children altered the balance of their planes and tweaked the shape of their wings and tails in order to fly them farther and faster.

Years 3 and 4 had a fabulous time making their Christingles and then singing and telling the story of the first Christingle in their celebration shared with their families.

Tomato tasting

We have been learning about the food plants that grow in the UK and that we could grow in our gardens or greenhouses. This week we have tasted 4 different varieties of tomato. Have you tasted a green jewel cherry tomato or a baby orange plum tomato?

Poetry

Year 3 learned the poem ”The Magic Box” by Kit Wright by heart. Swallows class used actions to help them remember each line.
